Horse Show Responsibilities

  1. Be aware of show dates and entry deadlines. All information is posted on white boards in the main aisle and within the letter given out.(Typically event deadlines are one month prior to the event start date. Event schedule is available online here).
  2. Entry forms must be completed entirely with all information and signatures. Incomplete forms will be charged a service fee. All entries must be accompanied with appropriate checks. a) Stall fee check #1 (away shows) b) entry fee check #2.
  3. If braiding is scheduled, checks for the braider are required prior to the horse show.
  4. Arrive at the horse show at least one hour before the start of your class. Horse show schedules vary drastically so arrive earlier rather than later. It is the riders responsibility to arrive at the competition on time. TOTL staff can not predict competition times or schedule changes.
  5. After arriving at the show, check in with TOTL staff immediately.
  6. Go to the office and deliver entry forms/check and pick up your number.
  7. Be fully attired 45 minutes before you compete. This includes:
    a) helmet + hairnet
    b) jacket
    c) show shirt/collar
    d) breeches + boots (shined and polished)
    e) garter straps (if junior rider)
    f) gloves
    g) spurs and crop
    h) number
  8. Immediately check-in at your ring and LEARN YOUR COURSES! Riders can always review the course a second time before competing. Do not wait until you have warmed up and are ready to show to learn your course!
  9. After competing, riders should assist grooms with retiring their horses if necessary. In some instances grooms may need help holding a horse, etc. Please be willing to help if need arises.
  10. RETURN to office and pay horse show bill.
  11. If you fail to pay your bill a $100 per day penalty fee will be added to your show bill.
  12. Finally, check in with TOTL staff for following days schedule.

Following these guidelines will make showing a pleasant and rewarding experience for everyone. TOTL thanks you for your participation and best of luck to ALL!
