Student/Client and School Barn Lesson Policy

The following bullets will help to explain some of the basic questions regarding the stable's policies on lessons, and students' rights and responsibilities when riding at Top of the Line.

Our Lesson hours are Tuesday-Friday 9am-7pm and Saturday-Sunday 9am-5pm.

  • Riders should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the lesson and check in at the office in the school barn (201) 802-0432. The student’s time, horse, and instructor will be listed on the board. This is also the time to take care of any payment (cash, check, or credit card).

    Lesson Rates:
    ½ hour private lesson: $55
    Helmet rental (per lesson) $3
    Lesson lease: $75
    1 hour private lesson: $110

  • Standing lessons can be pre-paid monthly to the office in order to hold your spot.
  • If a rider should fail to remember their payment, Top of the Line reserves the right to withhold the lesson.
  • Top of the Line does not offer refunds.
  • All riders will bring their horses to the ring no more than five minutes before the scheduled lesson time. Riders who are able should be ready to mount at the time their lesson is scheduled to begin, otherwise this groundwork will be implemented into the student’s lesson until he/she is capable of doing this themselves. Lesson time also includes any tack adjustment and warm-up and cool-down of horse.
  • Proper attire: Approved Riding helmet with chin strap (no brightly colored and/or print covers), hard-soled shoe with a heel (no sneakers, preferably paddock boots),long pants (i.e. jeans), form fitting tops (nothing baggy or loose, all tops tucked in), all hair should be pulled back in a tie or tucked under your helmet.
  • Students should be familiar with basic horsemanship including grooming, tacking etc. Top of the Line offers stable management lessons ask the office for details.
  • In the event that the student is late, Top of the Line will attempt to compensate them for the lost time ONLY if both the instructor and horse's schedule allow. However, this is rarely possible and in the event that it cannot be accomplished, the time will be forfeited without the right to future compensation. If a student is 15 minutes late he/she will not be offered the remainder of the lesson.
  • There is a 24-hour cancellation policy.
  • Top of the Line reserves the right to change instructors without notice.
  • Children should be supervised while at the stable - no running, screaming and/or "horseplay" allowed, it may frighten the horses.
  • Drive Slowly! Cars arriving and leaving Top of the Line should drive no faster than 15 mph - speeding cars can scare horses, and there are children and animals about the grounds.

The policies contained herein are not subject to change.
